The aim of the courses promoted by the Integrated Photonic Technologies Center INPHOTEC of the Communication, Information and Perception Institute (TeCIP) of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, in collaboration with the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT), is to strengthen skills in the design, fabrication and packaging of photonic integrated circuits.

This hands-on training is the technical follow up to the SIMTAC event. In this training course hosted by Tsinghua University and supported by SIMTAC, you will get an overview of the latest status of the integrated photonics eco-system for the three major photonics technologies(SOI,InP,SiN).

In this training course hosted by PhoeniX Software, you will get an overview of the latest status of the integrated photonics eco-system for the three major photonics technologies: InP, silicon photonics and TriPleX (SiN). This overview will include the available design tools today and the importance of considering test and packaging in an early stage. The unique combination of lectures and hands-on training exercises will teach you how to perform circuit simulations, including fabrication tolerances, how to use a design library (PDK) for mask layout and how to set-up your own libraries in a structured way. PhoeniX Software tools (ASPIC, OptoDesigner) will be used for this purpose.

After the successful first PIC training last year, a second training on Photonic Integrated Circuits is being held in November 2016 at Tektronix in Santa Clara, California. The training is one-stop-shop and covers all the material systems, whether Silicon, InP-based, or dielectrics such as TriPleX (SiO2/Si3N4). The Integrated Photonic Technologies Center INPHOTEC, part of the TeCIP Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, in collaboration with CNIT (National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications), announces a comprehensive training program on photonic integrated circuits design and fabrication, and on photonic/electronic packaging and characterization.
The training includes an extensive session about the OptoDesigner and the use of the INPHOTEC PDK.
INPHOTEC makes available during the courses to the enrolled trainees its 700 sqm highly professional fabrication facility and technology platforms for clean room live sessions.
Target candidates are coming from the academia and the industry with a master of science in the area of Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering or Physics, or professionals with adequate background who want to pursue intensive specialization courses with practical sessions in the complete line of design, fabrication, packaging and characterization.
